KABHI KUSSHI KABHI GHAM

Ternyata usaha sang sutradara berhasil karena "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" yang dirilis pada akhir 2001 ternyata berhasil menyamai jika tidak bisa dikatakan melampaui kesuksesan film "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai". Kisahnya sendiri berputar pada sebuah keluarga seorang pengusaha kaya yang sangat terpandang, Yashorvardan Raichand (Amitabh Bachchan). Yash, begitulah sang pengusaha biasa dipanggil, bersama istrinya, Nandini (Jaya Bachchan) membesarkan dua putranya, Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) dan Rohan (Hrithik Roshan) dengan penuh kasih sayang. Hanya beberapa orang yang tahu bahwa Rahul sebenarnya adalah anak yang diadopsi oleh Yash dan Nandini ketika Rahul masih sangat kecil.

Rahul sendiri pada awalnya tidak tahu jika ia diadopsi, namun ia secara tidak sengaja menemukan rahasia dirinya itu pada usia 8 tahun. Sejak itu ia bertekad berbakti dan menuruti semua keinginan orang tuanya terutama Yash. Sayangnya kebahagiaan keluarga Yash terganggu setelah kepulangan Rahul dari London setelah menyelesaikan pendidikannya. Semuanya bermula ketika Rahul jatuh cinta kepada seorang gadis yang dianggap Yash tidak sesuai dengan putranya karena kelasnya berbeda. Jika Rahul dari keluarga kalangan atas, maka gadis cantik yang dicintai Rahul, Anjali (Kajol) hanyalah salah seorang putri dari pengasuh yang bekerja kepada keluarga Yash.

Apalagi Yash ingin menjodohkan Rahul dengan Naina (Rani Mukherjee), seorang gadis cantik yang merupakan teman sepermainan Rahul semasa kecil. Tentu saja Naina dianggap Yash pantas menjadi jodoh Rahul karena statusnya setara dengan mereka. Walau Rahul akan menuruti semua perintah ayahnya, namun untuk masalah cintanya, Rahul nekad menentang perjodohannya dengan Naina. Bahkan ia tetap melanjutkan kisah cintanya dengan Anjali. Yash sangat marah sekali mendengar penolakan putranya. Dalam kemarahannya, Yash mengingatkan bahwa Rahul bukanlah anak kandungnya. Akibatnya Rahul sangat terpukul mendengar ucapan ayahnya. Iapun meninggalkan rumahnya bersama Anjali.

Kepergian Rahul dari rumah sangat membuat sedih hati ibunya, Nandini. Walau bukan darah dagingnya sendiri, Nandini sangat mencintai Rahul dan bahkan punya ikatan batin kuat dengan Rahul. Ketika adik Rahul, Rohan yang juga disekolahkan di London, kembali ke rumah dan mendapati keluarganya tidak bahagia setelah ditinggalkan abangnya. Seperti halnya Nandini, Rohan pun sedih kehilangan abang yang disayanginya. Sebenarnya Yash juga mengalami perasaan sama, tetapi tidak mau mengakuinya. Secara tidak sengaja Rohan jatuh cinta kepada Pooja (Kareena Kapoor), yang merupakan adik kandung Anjali. Mereka berdua pun bertekad untuk meluluhkan hati sang ayah Rahul dan Rohan dan mempersatukan kembali keutuhan keluarga mereka.

Pemeran Pooja ini adalah aktris muda Bollywood yang sedang menanjak tinggi. Diramalkan Kareena akan mampu menggeser para aktris top Bollywood seperti Kajol atau Aishwarya Rai, bahkan kakaknya Karishma Kapoor. Aktris yang lahir pada 21 Oktober 1980 di Mumbai, Maharashtra, India ini merupakan salah anggota Klan Kapoor di perfilman India. Ayahnya adalah Randhir Kapoor dan ibunya, Babita Kapoor adalah pasangan bintang Bollywood, sedangkan kakeknya adalah aktor legendaris Raj Kapoor.

Tidak heran jika ia tidak perlu bersusah payah untuk mendapatkan peran pertamanya. Sebenarnya pada awalnya Kareena yang bernama kecil Bebo lantaran tubuh gemuknya ketika masih kecil hingga usia remaja, tidak tertarik pada dunia film karena ingin masuk sekolah hukum Harvard. Baru dua bulan belajar hukum di Harvard, darah seninya lebih kuat sehingga iapun kembali ke Mumbai untuk membintangi film debutnya "Refugee" (2000). Memang film debut ini tidak mencapai hasil yang diharapkan, tetapi Kareena telah diincar para produser Bollywood.

Film keduanya "Muhje Kuch Kehna Hai" (2001) meledak di pasaran, namun film selanjutnya "Yaadein" ternyata gagal mencetak kesuksesan seperti film sebelumnya. Walaupun begitu, Kareena berhasil meninggalkan kesan mendalam bagi para penonton Bollywood. Apalagi Kareena pun berhasil memukau mereka dalam film-film berikutnya yaitu "Asoka" dan "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" (kedua-duanya tahun 2001). Filmnya yang beredar di tahun 2002 adalah "Mujhse Dosti Karoge!" yang disusul film yang akan beredar di tahun 2003, "Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon". Kita lihat saja apakah Kareena akan dapat menjadi ratu Bollywood kelak.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayengge

Kisah dalam film Bollywood ini diperankan oleh Hrithik Roshan dan Aishwarya Rai dengan besutan sutradara Ashutosh Gowariker. Kisahnya yang konon berdasarkan kisah sejarah walau ada beberapa kisah yang di bantah oleh para sejarawan, yaitu kisah cinta yang mengharu-birukan hati dari seorang penguasa legendaris kekaisaran muslim Mughal yang berkuasa di India pada abad ke-16, yaitu Maharaja Akbar (Hrithik Roshan) dengan isterinya yang beragama hindu, Jodhaa (Aishwarya Rai).

Perkawinan antara Akbar dan Jodhaa yang merupakan putri kerajaan bangsa Rajput, Amer pada awalnya adalah perkawinan politik demi persekutuan antara dua kerajaan tersebut, namun menjelma menjadi kisah cinta yang sesungguhnya. Namun perjalanan kisah cinta tersebut tidak mudah karena di bumbui berbagai intrik politik dan nafsu terhadap kekuasaan, apalagi pada awalnya Jodhaa merasa terpaksa menikahi Akbar.

Kisahnya bekisar ketika Raja Bharmal (Kulbhushan Kharbanda) dari kerajaan Amer (Rajput) mewariskan tahtanya kepada Rajmumar Baghwan Das (Divijay Purohit), bukannya Sujamal (Sonu Sood), keponakan Bharmal, yang merasa adalah pewaris sah tahta Amer. Tidak heran Sujamal marah dan meminta bantuan dari Sharifuddin Akbar alias Maharaja Akbar dari kekaisaran Mughal. Khawatir di serang oleh Sujamal, maka Bharmal langsung mendekati Akbar sendiri.

Bharmal menawarkan putri Bharmal, Jodhaa Bai untuk di nikahi Akbar di sambut dengan baik karena akbar bisa memperluas wilayah kekuasaannya yang memang telah membentang luas dari Afghanistan, Hindustan (India), hingga Teluk Bengal. Jodhaa yang bersifat keras dan galak ini memberikan 2 syarat berat yang harus di penuhi Akbar untuk kelangsungan perkawinan mereka. Akbar ternyata menyanggupi 2 syarat tersebut.

However , this film was an indian film that i watched at the first time .... This in an interesting film .Kuch Kuch Hota Hai introduces us to Rahul and Anjali while they are in St. Xavier's College. They are the best of friends, especially enjoying each other’s company in competition on the basketball court. Romantic feelings between them are dormant, until the principal’s daughter Tina comes from London and joins their little group. Overtime, Anjali seeing how much Rahul likes Tina’s style. Starting to feel left out, she tries to change her tomboyish ways and emulate Tina.

At the same time Rahul realizes he is falling for Tina, Anjali’s feelings for Rahul surface. They meet in the rain to tell each other how they feel. Rahul goes first, oblivious to the fact that his best friend has fallen in love with him and he dashes her dreams to pieces. While he goes to tell Tina his intentions, Anjali realizes her love story will never be completed and she leaves college to go home, without telling Rahul.

One of the most poignant scenes of the film is showcased as Rahul finds out Anjali has left and rushes to the train station with Tina to find her. Even though he is in love with Tina, feelings for Anjali that he never knew existed well up within him. Yet in the confusion, he doesn’t understand that they are feelings of love for his best friend. Tina now realizes that she has come between the two friends.

Rahul and Tina get married and have a baby girl. Complications with the birth leave Tina only a few hours to live and she makes Rahul promise to call the baby Anjali. This scene and the next few that follow are heart wrenching.

Alata (Mahur) is a flower-based dye used to paint the feet of the brides in some regions of India. It is still used in Bengal.
